Jeollanamdo is located at the southwest of Korea in far East Asia

Jeollanam-do is located in the southwestern part of the Korean peninsula which lies at the heart of greater Northeast Asia. As it connects directly with China via the West Sea and with Japan at its southeast, it is the center of northeast Asia, the starting point of Eurasia and the gateway to the Pacific.

Three scenic rivers flow peacefully through Jeollanam-do. The unpolluted Yeongsangang river flows through the southwest from the north providing vital water and nutrients that enrich the soil of the agricultural plains that lie to either side of the river. Passing through the eastern mountains of Jeollabuk-do flows the Seomjingang river while the Tamjingang river flows through Jangheung-gun and Gangjin-gun. The three rivers divide Jeollanam-do into three parts. The Naju plain that forms the Yeongsangang river valley in Jeollanam-do is one of the most fertile for producing grains along with the Honam plain in Jeollabuk-do.
