environment-friendly agriculture is not a choice, but a necessity for survival

What is “environment-friendly agriculture”?

It actively pursues the freshness and safety of agricultural products while preserving the soil and surrounding environment as well as enhancing the household income of farmers.

Concept of “environment-friendly agriculture”

Environment-friendly agriculture is a holistic concept that aims to preserve the agricultural environment by practicing Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), utilization of natural enemies as pesticides (instead of chemicals), flora damage prevention technology through prudent use of herbicides, and crop rotation to ultimately achieve a comprehensive and reasonably planned sustainable ecological system.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

It is a method to suppress excessive use of chemical pesticides through precise observation of the occurrence of blights and harmful insects to control them through minimal use. The practice leads to a more sustainable and ultimately safer, healthier and more productive agricultural system.

Integrated Nutrient Management (INM)

This is a method to maintain agricultural production and minimize environmental damage by supplying environment-friendly fertilizers in precise amounts only after a thorough soil examination. The practice reduces fertilizer costs and environmental damage while improving the quality of the produce.

Classification of “environment-friendly agriculture”

environment-friendly agriculture is largely classified into organic agriculture and low input sustainable agriculture.

Organic agriculture

aims to produce products through the exclusive use of natural materials such as organic fertilizers and natural minerals, thus eschewing synthetic chemical fertilizers, synthetic herbicides, chemical pesticides and livestock feed additives and antibiotics.

Low input sustainable agriculture

aims to produce safe agricultural products through minimal use of chemical substances by reducing the quantity of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers by practicing IPM and INM methods.
